We had a great time in our Felted Lattice Scarf class at The Fibre Studio in Charlotte Saturday! The girls made some beautiful scarves, each one was so different from the other. I took a variety of supplies and let them pick and choose their own fibers and embellishments: hand-dyed merino wool fibers, wool and novelty yarns, silk threads, bamboo fibers, curly mohair locks, sparkly Angelina fibers. 2 of the gals had never felted, and one of them mentioned that my selection of embellishment "goodies" was almost overwhelming, I had so much stuff! But I wanted to make sure I had just the right trims to enhance each colorway of fibers, and I do believe we were successful. Here are the girls' finished scarves, still a bit damp but just gorgeous. I'm looking forward to teaching this class at Houston Quilt Festival October 26!
I love the combination of textures and colors Janet used, so organic!
Janet's beautiful finished scarf, very earthy in tones of nature.
Christi's show-stopping scarf, still a bit wet but beautiful.
This lovely family group was celebrating a birthday with a felting class, gorgeous scarves!
A close-up of Christi's roses and embellishments.
Christi's finished and dried scarf...wouldn't this be lovely for Christmas with burgundy and green?
A few of their fiber and embellishment choices.
My felted lattice scarf, their original model.
I made a new autumn-toned lattice scarf with curly fibers.
I'm thinking to add some stitchery to the leaves to punch them up a bit, what do you think? I think I'll add some silk Valdani thread hand-stitching, the luster of the silk will show up nicely on the copper wool.
